10. January 2022 – Nanjing Overseas Intellectual Property Think Tank
Dr. Yingkun Brunner und Matthias Rößler, LL.M. werden die kommenden 2 Jahre über das „Nanjing Overseas Intellectual Property“-Think Tank als zertifizierte Experten für viele Unternehmen aus China tätig sein. Aufgabe und Funktion des Expertenpools ist es vor allem, chinesische Unternehmen bei IP-relevanten rechtlichen Fragestellungen zu unterstützen.
Dabei geht es insbesondere darum, Informationen rund um die Anmeldung und Durchsetzung von Gewerblichen Schutzrechten und die Entwicklung von Schutzrechtsstrategien zu diskutieren, sowie im Fall von Rechtsstreitigkeiten zu unterstützen.
Das karo IP China Desk Team sieht mit diesem Engagement zudem die Möglichkeit, den Wissens- und Erfahrungsaustausch aktiv zu gestalten – sowohl im Sinne chinesischer Unternehmen, die außerhalb vom China ihre Produkte und Dienstleistungen vermarkten wollen als auch im Interesse von Unternehmen in Europa, die sich mit dem internationalen Schutz des Geistigen Eigentums beschäftigen.
Über die Organisation: Das „National Advisory Center for Overseas Intellectual Property Dispute Settlement“ (auch: Nanjing Branch) ist eine staatliche Organisation, die zum chinesischen Patentamt (CNIPA) gehört. Ende des Jahres 2021 wurden 15 Patentexperten - aus Europa, Japan und den USA - ausgewählt, die nun ihre Expertise bei Anfragen von chinesischen Unternehmen, vornehmlich aus Jiangsu, einer wirtschaftlich starken und im Bereich von IP-Schutzrechten sehr aktiven Provinz in der Nähe von Shanghai, einbringen werden.
8. December 2021 – Impfkampagne: ZusammenGegenCorona
Unter dem Hashtag #ZusammenGegenCorona rufen mehr als 150 Unternehmen und Marken in Deutschland zum Impfen gegen Corona auf. Diese gemeinsame Werbeaktion startete am 7. Dezember über Social Media - auch unsere Kanzlei hat dabei über LinkedIn mitgemacht.

Dr. Yingkun Brunner and Matthias Rößler, LL.M. will lead the online workshop "Patent Protection in Germany and Europe: Strategies for Patent or Utility Model Protection" to which we would like to cordially invite you.

30. October 2020 – Online seminar about SPC
Dr. Yingkun Brunner, European Patent Attorney at karo IP, held a lecture on SPC (Supplementary Protection Certificate) at the “New Media Platform of IP Front” in China.
More than 400 participants attended the online seminar held on October 29, 2020. The presentation contains information about SPC basic knowledge and about the most disputed issues. Furthermore the focus is on the analysis of the existing case law (decisions made by CJEU).

16. March 2020 – Availability of karo IP in relation to the corona virus (COVID-19)
Due to the developments in the past days, our patent law firm decided to follow the general recommendations for Germany: The patent attorneys and technical assistants of karo IP will now continue their work in home office.
We have already taken the precautionary actions in the past weeks. Most of our work flows and processes is on a digital basis so that we are able to continue our daily work for our clients.
You will reach us as usual via phone (+49 211 976 356 0) and E-Mail (mail@karo-ip.de). Please do not hesitate to contact us in order to arrange online meetings. We will continue the services of our law firm with best efforts, even if we will be forced to close our physical office for a certain time.
A lot of IP services depend on the IP offices. We will keep you posted about upcoming restrictions and their consequences (e.g. running deadlines) in order to discuss on an individual basis.
Our thoughts are with those who are personally affected by the pandemic or who are fighting against the spread with all their strength, especially the doctors, nurses, police officers, etc. We wish all of you good health and that we can soon return to our daily lives.

15. July 2019 – Chinese IP Workshop in Munich
On June 24, 2019, KARO IP attended the 2nd Chinese IP Workshop taking place at the European Patent Office in Munich.
The workshop was hosted by the Principal Director of User Services and Quality Management Mr. Niclas Morey and Mr. Jeremy Scott as sponsor of the Asian Patent Expert Group (APEG). The event´s topics surrounded new development of the EPO as well as CII (computer implemented invention).
APEG, the Asian Patent Expert Group, focuses on the development of patent law and practice in Asian, especially in China.
The successful seminar attracted about 40 people; among them corporate IP legal professionals, head of corporate technologies and patent attorneys.

3. June 2019 – Lecture at the European Patent Office
Dr. Yingkun Brunner was invited by the European Patent Office (EPO) to give a lecture for their examiners on June 3, 2019.

27. May 2019 – INTA Annual Meeting – reconnecting with clients, colleagues and friends. Thank you Boston!
KARO IP, participating this year’s INTA in Boston, Massachusetts, appreciated the five days of interesting educational opportunities, intensive networking and great discussions with clients and colleagues all over the world.
We hosted the meetings at several places around the convention center and had very inspiring debates. Sincere thanks are given to them all.
With more than 11,000 member attendees, exhibitors, sponsors and media partners the 141st Annual Meeting was the largest in INTA history.

Since May 2019 Matthias Rößler is a member of the LES Deutsche Landesgruppe e.V.
The Licensing Executives Society (LES) is an international association of experts in the field of licensing and technology transfer.
In the future, Mr. Rößler plans to actively participate in the LES Working Group “Vehicles”, which, in addition to the topics of licensing and technology transfer, deals with sectoral IP topics. As part of regular workshops and events, a hands-on exchange of experience between experts takes place.

20. December 2018 – Extended Strategic Cooperation of Law Firms
The cooperation of the patent law firm Kahlhöfer Rößler Kreuels Patentanwälte PartG mbB with Braun-Dullaeus Pannen Patent- und Rechtsanwälte at the “Platz der Ideen” in Duesseldorf will be expanded.
As announced on December 19, Braun-Dullaeus Pannen will merge with a team of Dr. Emmerling (Munich) at January 1, 2019. We truly value the the association called Braun-Dullaeus Pannen Emmerling and we welcome our new colleagues Dr. Friedrich Emmerling, Dr. Ju Min Kim, Franck Klein, Jürgen Pierau and Jörg Kohlschmidt in our organization.
Kahlhöfer Rößler Kreuels PartG mbB cooperates with Braun-Dullaeus Pannen since January 2018. With this successful collaboration the team of patent attorneys has been able to greatly expand and bundle the technical and scientific know-how as well as the national and international firms’ network.

On July 13, 2018, KARO IP and Yantai Intellectual Property Association hosted the seminar “IP in Europe” in Yantai, Shandong Province.
Mr. Athanassios-Andreas Stamatopoulos, former principal director at the European Patent Office (EPO), Mr. Matthias Rößler, LL.M., Partner of KARO IP, and Dr. Yingkun Brunner, China Desk/KARO IP, presented different topics about Intellectual Property in Europe.
The event´s topics surrounded recent development at the European Patent Office (EPO), Faster Processing at the EPO, EU Trademark, Unitary Patent and Unified Patent Court, German Utility Model, CII Patenting before the EPO, EU Design Patent, etc.
The successful seminar attracted more than 40 people; corporate IP legal professionals, head of corporate technologies and attorneys.

Even in the days of KNH Patentanwälte (until December 2017), the patent attorneys regularly worked in the former KNH office in Munich.
1. May 2018 – Office expansion at the Platz der Ideen 2 in Duesseldorf
On May 1, 2018, KARO IP will expand its office space at the Platz der Ideen 2. The founding partners Rößler and Kreuels decided to take this step a few months after the successful foundation of the law firm KARO IP at the Platz der Ideen. Among other things, new offices will be created for the growing team around the former partners of KNH Patentanwälte.
1. February 2018 – Admission of patent attorney Leonard Lotz
We look forward to having our experienced associate and patent attorney candidate Leonard Lotz now in our team of patent attorneys directly after his admission to the patent attorney.
Leonard Lotz began his training at KNH Patentanwälte and has been supporting the patent attorneys Rößler, Kreuels and Kahlhöfer since 2014.

Mr. Lotz joined the newly founded law firm KARO IP with some colleagues in January 2018 and successfully completed his training there. He is known to the clients of KARO IP as a competent and experienced contact person. The team is looking forward to the future cooperation.
15. January 2018 – karo IP - Foundation January 2018
After several years of joint activity at KNH Patentanwälte in Duesseldorf, Hermann Kahlhöfer, Matthias Rößler and Justus Kreuels took the initiative to found the law firm karo IP - Kahlhöfer Rößler Kreuels Patentanwälte PartG mbB at the beginning of 2018.
In this law firm pioneering new concepts for an efficient, comprehensive and forward-looking consultation should be realized. The bundled experience, the extensive expertise and the commitment of the patent attorneys serve the well-being of many national and international clients.
We are pleased about the large number of loyal clients who continue to work with us immediately after the foundation of KARÒ IP.
We were able to realize our goal of comprehensive consulting in all areas of technology and intellectual property with sufficient capacity and experience with other patent attorneys and lawyers. With the established patent and law firm Braun-Dullaeus Pannen, we have a partner who has relevant experience in the enforcement of property rights in Germany and in trademark law. With our office community, a constructive and efficient exchange is now possible.
